Travel Availibility: Every day

Huchuy Qosqo is a important archaeological site, located over 3,350 meters above sea level on a plateau in the upper third of the mountain. From where you have a beautiful view across the valley you can appreciate the incomparable beauty of the perpetual snow of the  Pitusiray and Chiccon mountains, in the background the town of Calca is clearly visible.

According to the chroniclers was the Inca Viracocha, who founded Huchuy Qosqo about a place that was already populated. When the first Inca, Manco Capac, came to the Cusco Valley, he found the area occupied by several nations that were later defeated and annexed the Empire. One of those countries was set on Huch’uy Qosqo, where precincts, Inca buildings that make up the architectural monument of Huchuy Qosqo are.
