This half day tour offers great insights into the culture and history of this city also known as “The White City”, because of the many downtown buildings made from the light colored volcanic rock. Arequipa is rich in colonial history with beautiful architectures of the 16th century-style.

DAY 1 CUSCO – CLOUD FOREST LODGE (L)(D)

We depart Cusco early in the morning in our private transportation with a quick stop in Paucartambo town, known as the region’s folklore center. Then on to the entrance of the Manu biosphere located at 3530 meters above sea level. We then descend to the Cloud Forest, passing through different ecological floors and a warming climate, getting to see a rich diversity of trees, plants, butterflies, monkeys and birds including the famous and native Cock of the Rock. Overnight stay in a basic lodge. Public bathrooms are located apart from the main lodge. Our personal chef cooks up amazing meals throughout the tour.

DAY 2 CLOUD FOREST – PILCOPATA TOWN LODGE (B)(L)(D)

We will have an early morning start to walk and observe the beautiful and serene nature around us, with glimpses of some of the over 1000 bird species known to the Park, and a tour through an animal home caring for jungle animals such as woolly monkey, parrot, toucan, snake, the speckled bear and/or the sloth. We can observe the culture of and how jungle farmers live in this area of Manu. Overnight stay in another simple but comfortable lodge.

DAY 3 PILCOPATA TOWN – RAIN FOREST OF ATALAYA PORT (B)(L)(D)

Canoe ride down the Madre de Dios River with short treks through the forest to explore more of the ecosystem. An intriguing time floating on rafts on a swamp and more opportunities to catch glimpses of various birds, perhaps the historic hoatzin, caimans, squirrel monkeys and much more. Later there is an optional night walk to see and hear close-up the creatures of the night including owls, night monkeys and various insects and birds.

DAY 4 PARROT CLAY LICK – RETURN TO CUSCO (B)(L)

A very early boat-ride down the river will hopefully give us the opportunity to witness the colorful view of parrots and parakeets taking their breakfast on the clay river-sides. We will then take the boat back to Atalaya Port to continue the return to Cusco by our private transportation.
